Hampshire Ladies travelled to Great Yarmouth looking forward to the Inter County finals. They were drawn against Cambridge in their first match. The team support was fantastic and they earned a well deserved 23-18 win against a very good team.

Their second match was against Cleveland who had beaten Devon in their 1st match. There was a lot of very close frames which could have gone either way but in the end Cleveland won the match 23-15, which meant that Hampshire were eliminated from the Inter County finals but were entered into the KO Cup.

After a short break, they had to play Norfolk for a place in the Semi-Final. They got off to a great start winning the 1st session 8-3. Over the next 3 sessions, Norfolk fought their way back into the match eventually getting to 21-21, with only 2 frames left, it looked like a play off was possible, but Hampshire dug deep and played well to win the last 2 frames and the match.

Starting the day at 8.30am, playing 3 county matches in one day and finishing just before midnight, they were exhausted but elated.

The Semi Final was against South Yorkshire starting at 8.30am on the Sunday morning. Hampshire were tired from the efforts of the previous day but remained up-beat and positive and felt sure they could get to the Final. South Yorkshire started really well winning the 1st session 8-3, although Hampshire started to fight back in the 2nd and 3rd sessions, narrowly losing each session 5-6, they ran out of steam at the end and lost the match 13-23.

Aimee Firkins (Captain) and Mandy Jones’s (Vice Captain) praised the team for their efforts over the weekend. The team spirit was excellent throughout and it was felt that the experience gained will prove invaluable for the forthcoming season. Hampshire awarded Louise Sutton the Player of the Event trophy for winning 11 frames out of 14, an outstanding performance.
